Wine Walk in Vilafranca

Vilafranca del Penedès

The Camí del Vi is a circular path that starts from the center of Vilafranca and enters between vineyards and farmhouses, with panels that narrate the cycle of the vineyard and tasting proposals in neighboring wineries. Suitable for families and cyclists, it invites you to discover the wine culture of Penedès all year round and for free.

The Camí del Vi, also known as the Wine Walk, is a signposted route that links the urban centre of Vilafranca with its immediate wine-growing environment. Without great differences and suitable for all audiences, the trail becomes an invitation to walk among vines, dry stone margins and farmhouses that explain a thousand years of grape cultivation in the Penedès.

The route, circular and of a few kilometers (variable depending on the sections chosen by the walker), begins at the Tourist Office of the Plaza de la Vila and quickly goes into the fields of the plan, where interpretive panels describe the vegetative cycle of the vine, the most emblematic varieties (xarel·lo, macabeu, parellada) and the human effort behind each bottle. The visitor can stop at small wooden viewpoints to enjoy snapshots over the wine capital with the serrated horizon of Montserrat.

Along the way, it is proposed to interact with family wineries that offer tastings, vintage workshops and pairings. This wine tourism aspect is intertwined with the heritage discovery of the guardrails of the bell towers of Santa Maria and San Francesc, which stand out over the green tapestry in spring and golden in autumn. At several points, QR codes allow you to expand the information with videos and podcasts.

The tour, open all year and free, is especially recommended in the early morning or at sunset, when the golden light highlights the textures of the vine. It can be done on foot or by bicycle and has a connection with the network of longer routes that cross the Alt Penedès. The City Council recalls the importance of not harvesting grapes or accessing the fields without permission and of respecting agricultural work, especially at harvest time.
