During four afternoons in May, Carrer del Comerç returns to its wine-making origins thanks to the “Dijous de Vi” cycle. A pop-up wine bar is installed, which every week invites a different winery of the DO Penedès to present their wines. The pairing is completed with live musical performances and projection of old images that recall the role of this street in the export of wine to the port of Vilanova.
The atmosphere is relaxed and close: standing drinks, conversation with the winemaker, tapas prepared by neighborhood restaurateurs and many young people discovering that wine culture can be fresh and urban. The affordable price for tasting and the charm of the street trees at dusk make, year after year, Wine Thursdays the perfect preview of Vijazz.
The activity reinforces the idea that, in Vilafranca, each season has its own wine ritual: the chatón in the winter, the porrón Thursdays in the spring, the jazz with bubbles in the summer and the harvest in the fall.
