Since 2018, Vilafranca has dedicated an entire week to stop and reflect with Vilapensa, a transversal festival that addresses great human issues from philosophy, science, art and literature. Each edition chooses a common thread — death, desire, evil, identity — and schedules lectures, dialogues, exhibitions, literary routes, theatre and school workshops.
The sessions are held in municipal facilities, libraries, the Casa de la Festa Major or the basilica itself, making the city an open campus where renowned thinkers share space with neighbors, students and the curious. The informative and free will of the festival has made it a meeting point for restless minds beyond the region.
Vilapensa shows that Vilafranca does not live only on the vine and the festivities: it also cultivates dialogue, slow reading and critical thinking, indispensable ingredients for any community that wants to grow with criteria.
