High-flying jazz and high-altitude wines: this is the formula that, since 2007, has placed Vijazz Penedès on the international map of summer festivals. For three nights in July, the Rambla de Nostra Senyora and the Plaza Jaume I become an open-air amphitheater where figures such as Chick Corea, Avishai Cohen, Paquito D'Rivera and Madeleine Peyroux have played. The concerts, free of charge, are accompanied by a sample of more than forty wineries and cavas of the DO Penedès and DO Cava, with tasting spaces that allow each saxophone solo to be paired with a very cold bubble.
The programme also includes guided tastings, musical pairings, wine tourism routes and children's activities, so the festival transcends the musical realm to become a great celebration of wine culture. Local restaurateurs join the party with special menus and shops extend hours, so the whole city breathes jazz.
The proposal has grown without losing its essence: artistic quality and oenological dissemination. The mild climate of the Penedès night, the monumental setting of the historic center and the free entrance have consolidated the Vijazz as a sensory experience that delights music lovers and winelovers alike.
