BackWhen the sun begins to fall, the bell tower of Santa Maria becomes the best viewpoint in the Penedès. The activity proposes to climb the 160 steps of the spiral staircase and, once at the top, enjoy an explanation of the history of the tower, its bells and the watchtower function it had had.
The peak moment is the sunset: the guide turns off the lights and invites you to contemplate how the light tinged with gold merges with the vineyards that surround Vilafranca. Many participants take the opportunity to take pictures of the profile of Montserrat and the Litoral mountain range.
The visits, about an hour, are scheduled only in summer and are a good excuse to discover the bell tower, often overshadowed by the activity in the Plaza de la Vila.
