The Flama del Canigó arrives in Vilafranca in a lantern that runs through the town to the Parc del Tivoli, passing the fire to representatives of neighborhoods and municipalities in the region. The event includes reading the message of the flame, symbolic burning of claim documents and hearing sardanas. At night, neighborhoods light bonfires and organize community dinners, firecrackers and music until dawn.
The feast combines patriotic tradition and family celebration: cake of lardons with muscatel, ballaruca and the perfume of gunpowder that heralds summer. The path of the flame often changes to make it pass through emblematic spaces and consolidate a sense of regional unity.
It is also the general rehearsal for the devils and tabalers who, two months later, will wear themselves in Sant Félix.
