Recital “De la Raíz Amarga. Lorca and the Civil War”

The Cloister of Sant Francesc will become, on the night of July 18, the scene of an intense dialogue between poetry and music. Actress Fuensanta López and pianist Josep Vidal weave a 50-minute show that starts from original texts by Federico García Lorca (poems, letters and theatrical fragments) and combines them with a score of their own that avoids conventional accompaniment to place voice and piano in expressive equality.
Dramaturgy delves into concepts such as tragic destiny, violence and poetic intuition, all framed in the context of the Civil War. The use of symbolic elements — the moon, the night, the earth — and a costume signed by Pedro del Hierro reinforce the dreamlike charge of the proposal.
Tickets have a popular price of €4.50 and can be purchased an hour in advance at the box office. The activity is part of the cycle Words in the Cloister, promoted by the Culture Service to bring literature closer to heritage spaces.
