Recital “Ángel González. Poetry and Life” in the Cloister of Sant Francesc

Vilafranca del Penedès

View location

On Sunday afternoon, the Cloister of San Francisco is again filled with poetry with a dramatized reading that reviews the life and literary career of the Asturian poet Ángel González (1925-2008). Actress Jordina Biosca gives voice to the selection of poems, while pianist David García Aparicio weaves a musical curtain that dialogues with each verse.
The audience travels from childhood in Oviedo to González's late maturity, passing through the impact of the Civil War and the internal exile that goes through much of his work. The words take on an almost physical dimension within the Gothic space of the cloister, where the natural echo caressed by the stone transforms each cadence into a murmur that slowly dissipates between the arches.
The event is part of the cycle “Poetry and Heritage” that the City Council organizes every summer and which seeks to unite rhapsodes and musicians with the same objective: to make the spoken word vibrate in spaces of high historical value. At the end, attendees will be able to toast with a glass of DO Penedès wine and comment on the experience with the performers, thus closing an afternoon that celebrates the strength of shared culture.
