The weekend before Christmas, Vilafranca is transformed into a huge poultry market where the Gall del Penedès is the absolute star. The pens are set up in the open air so that buyers can choose the live specimen they like best, and right next door, the gastronomic show proposes tastings of traditional and author's recipes. There is space for pairing with DO Penedès wines, children's workshops, festive bestiary exhibition and cooking competitions. Founded in medieval times, the fair keeps the direct contact between producer and consumer alive and is a unique opportunity to understand the Pagan pride of the region.
