Every third Sunday in January, the Plaza Penedès fills the tables with chaton. Restaurants, hospitality schools and local entities make their version of the salad, and a popular jury awards the best sauce. There are workshops on mortar making, gralles music and a children's space that introduces the little ones to the culture of the chatón. The festival is heir to the old custom of eating chatón during Lent, when the wine was' decaxotonated ', and is part of the Xató Route that connects the five founding cities.
