Casa de la Vila (Town Hall)

Vilafranca del Penedès

Historic seat of the City Council, remodeled in a modernist key by Santiago Güell. Facade with traceries and shields, noble rooms with stained glass windows and the balcony from where the castles of Sant Félix are lived. Political and symbolic center of the most Castilian square in the country.

The Casa de la Vila, with a modernist facade renovated at the beginning of the 20th century by the architect Santiago Güell, presides over the square where the most courageous castles are planted. The building combines neo-Gothic elements — traceries, plant capitals — with the current administrative functionality. Inside are preserved noble rooms with stained glass and coffered windows that evoke the wine prosperity of the time in which it was transformed. Every August 30, the main balcony becomes the tribune of honor for the day of San Félix.
