Every December, the Falcons gang — specialists in human acrobatic figures — celebrates the anniversary of their founding in 1959. For three days they organize a rally of ingenuity, satirical preaching, a parade and a final exhibition at the Casa de la Sociedad La Principal. The construction of the great Pira or the Spike, figures with dozens of participants, always elicits a standing ovation.
The event serves to recruit new falconers and relive the evolution of a discipline born in Sokol (Czech Republic) and adapted with passion in Catalonia.
The activities combine tradition and youthful exuberance, showing that the body can also be festive architecture and that Vilafranca knows how to diversify its human heritage beyond the castles.
