Simón Coll Chocolate

Cocoa landed in Sant Sadurní at the end of the 19th century when the Coll family opened a small workshop in the village. More than six generations later, Simón Coll has become synonymous with quality chocolate throughout Catalonia. The factory, located a few meters from the station, receives thousands of visitors every year who discover the journey from the cocoa bean to the tile through the Chocolate Space. The company works with Creole and Trinitarian varieties, directly controls the roasting and tasting and has specialized in chocolate figures, chocolates and the classic tiles of 70% cocoa. It combines modern mechanical methods with traditional stone mills to preserve aromas and textures. During the visit, the history of the factory is explained, the emergence of phylloxera — which reduced the demand for wines and boosted the cocoa trade — and a guided tasting where different intensities of chocolate are combined with cavas from the Penedès region.
