The reputation of Sant Sadurní as the capital of cava speaks deliciously with the aroma of cocoa in the Espai Xocolata Simón Coll, the visitor center of the historic factory founded in 1840. Located on Sant Pere Street, this immersive facility invites visitors to discover, with the five senses, the journey of the cocoa bean to become chocolate.

The itinerary begins with a panoramic audiovisual that, at 180°, transports us to the tropical origins of cocoa and the first Catalan chocolate masters. Afterwards, a 50-minute guided tour crosses walkways that allow you to see, from above, the roasting and conchado line in full activity. The smell of freshly roasted cocoa accompanies every step, and interactive screens explain the technological evolution of the firm, from the first artisan tablets to today's signature chocolates.

The exhibition space combines display cases with old chocolate molds, modernist advertising posters and wrapping machines from the 1960s. Highlights include a small in-house museum displaying handwritten invoices from 1915, illustrated labels and the first Simón Coll logo, as well as limited collections dedicated to local cava.

From an architectural point of view, the center has been integrated into a renovated industrial warehouse, where steel, wood and large windows that fill the shop-workshop with natural light predominate. The tour culminates in the tasting room, where specialties such as 70% chocolate or chocolates filled with cava liquor are tasted, pairings that return ties with the territory.

The visitor service offers multilingual audio guides, reduced rates for schools and agencies, and limited capacity to ensure comfort. In the final boutique, the public can purchase exclusive editions produced on site and watch the personalization of chocolate bottles live.

With a constant program of family workshops, pairings and school activities —more than 30,000 visitors a year before the pandemic—, Espai Xocolata has established itself as an essential experience to understand the gastronomic culture of Sadurnines beyond cava.
