Located in the heart of the Cultural Center of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the Ramon Bosch de Noya Library is much more than a simple reading space: it is the great civic and cultural meeting point of the town. It is named after the local winegrower and historian Ramon Bosch de Noya, who on his death in 1993 delivered to the City Council his very valuable collection of books and documents, a gesture that marked the origin of the current equipment. Since then, the library has been an active part of the Network of Municipal Libraries and the Public Reading System of Catalonia, under agreement with the Diputació de Barcelona.

The building occupies several premises of the Cultural Center, open in the square Primer Homenatge a la Vellesa, in a spacious and bright building that integrates consultation rooms, children's areas, multipurpose spaces, interior cloister and exhibition showcases. The architectural project, initially conceived to host large-scale cultural activities, takes advantage of the double height and the natural light roof to create cozy environments where modern shelves coexist with original elements of the old municipal building.

The documentary collection exceeds 30,000 copies and ranges from narrative and essay to collections specialized in viticulture, local history and Penedès heritage. Particularly noteworthy is the Bosch de Noya legacy, with monographs and manuscripts on phylloxera, the vine and the expansion of cava, which can be consulted in the reservation room. In addition, the library provides free internet access, tablets and computers, daily newspapers, magazines and a large audiovisual section.

Architecturally, the inner cloister acts as an agora for temporary exhibitions. The showcases host small-format exhibitions — such as the art exhibition “Aloves” scheduled from June 4 to July 17, 2026 — and the space is often transformed into a stage for small-format concerts, storytellers or book clubs. The children's area, clad in light wood and colorful cushions, is the usual setting for the “Story Hours” and the summer Biblio Labs workshops.

The annual programme includes lecture cycles, book clubs, book presentations, family programming and the prestigious Celler de Lletres Short Novel Prize, which places the library on the literary map of Penedès. Initiatives such as the “Bibliopiscina”, the “Biblio Casal” or the literary itineraries through the historic center exemplify the desire to extend the service beyond the four walls.

Today, the Ramon Bosch de Noya Library is a point of proximity, an academic support point for schools and institutes and a space for social cohesion. Managed by a professional team and an active reader volunteer, it bridges tradition and innovation, with easy-to-read projects, 3D printing and digital reading proposals that coexist with the reverent silence of the study rooms. A must stop for those who want to know the cultural soul of Sant Sadurní.
