Gospel Concert in the Patio of Cal Calixtus

On Saturday, July 11 at 9 p.m., the stone walls and arches of the Patio of Cal Calixtus will resonate with voices that combine black spirituals, contemporary harmonies and African rhythms. The guest choir, made up of about thirty singers from the Alt Penedès, offers a repertoire full of energy that encourages you to get up from your chair and clap your hands.
Cal Calixtus, a former manor house converted into a socio-cultural space, presents this summer a cycle of world music to promote coexistence and generate new audiences. The Gospel is the first stop, with admission at a popular price (€5) and a solidarity bar service to finance cooperation projects.
Between piece and piece, the choir director explains the origin of the songs and the connection between the struggle for civil rights and music of African American roots, while creating an experience that goes beyond the conventional concert.
