After a hiatus, in 2026 Escumostra returns, the exhibition that places sparkling wines beyond cava and opens them to signature gastronomic pairings. For three nights, the town square and the iconic winery courtyards turn into a large open-air wine-bar where wineries, restaurateurs and food-trucks offer ticketed tastings.
The program combines tastings guided by winemakers, small-format concerts and showcookings where chefs from the Penedès prepare proposals that harmonize with corpinnats, classic Penedès and long-aged cavas. The public can buy a commemorative glass and top up balance to stroll between stands tasting creations.
Scumostra was born with the desire to become a complement to the famous Cavatast but focused exclusively on sparkling wine and its gastronomic universe. Unlike its older brother, which takes place in autumn, the show bets on the last beats of summer and an evening format, creating a 'chill-out' atmosphere with ambient lighting and live music.
The Municipal Tourism Service coordinates logistics and establishes a sustainability protocol: reusable glasses, selective collection and promotion of mobility on foot or by urban bus. In addition, a didactic space disseminates the history of the traditional method, the role of the Penedès in the Denomination of Origin and the new trends in organic viticulture.
In 2026, one of the claims is the presence of small emerging cooperatives that present microvinifications of ancestral xarel·lo or parellada 'pet-nat'. The good popular reception suggests that Escumostra will have continuity and will reinforce the positioning of Sant Sadurní as the world capital of sparkling wine.
