Caminos del Cava

“Camins del Cava” is the latest commitment to sustainable mobility promoted jointly by the City Council of Sant Sadurní, the winemakers association AECAVA and the Diputació de Barcelona. The project, born in 2023, traces a network of perfectly marked paths and rural tracks that allow you to reach the wineries scattered around the outskirts of the town on foot or by bicycle.

The flagship tool is a web-app with geolocation that shows in real time the user's position, the turns between vineyards, the crossings with streams and, above all, the service points: restaurants, local produce shops, accommodation, car parks and, of course, the attached wineries. The map offers filters by distance, slope and type of firm, so it is as suitable for families as for expert cyclists.

The objective goes far beyond the simple excursion: it is about encouraging a leisurely discovery of the wine landscape, reducing the use of private vehicles and connecting the story of the cava with an experiential experience. For this reason, the itineraries include QR codes that explain the history of the phylloxera plague, the traditional cava technique or the biodiversity of the Lavernó stream.

The project plans to extend the network to the neighbouring areas of Subirats and Torrelavit and integrate it into the proposals for inclusive routes for people with reduced mobility. Meanwhile, the Camins del Cava is already one of the most requested activities in the Tourist Office: the visitor can book a package with electric bike rental, concerted tasting and discount voucher at Espai Xocolata Simón Coll.

Thanks to this initiative, Sant Sadurní reaffirms its leadership as the Capital of Cava, not only from a productive point of view but also as a responsible tourism laboratory.
